Butter-scotchcandies 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup butter or butter substitute 1/2 cup sugar 2 teaspoon vinegar 1/2 cup water 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 few grains salt Combine all ingredients except flavoring. Cover until mixture begins to boil. Boil without stirring to soft crack stage (275 - 280 F). Add flavoring. Do not stir. Pour quickly into well-buttered pan. The candy should be in a thin sheet.
