Quicker Baked Potato

Try this method for speeding up the potato baking process (for a better texture than those that you microwave). Pre-heat the oven to 400. Place the potato in boiling water for 10 minutes. Bake for 30 minutes. This will cut the cooking time in half.

 

Fruit Pudding

1 cup raisins
1 cup suet, chopped
1 cup molasses
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 single *dissolved in:
1/4 cup water, boiling
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 single flour

Combine and mix all the ingredients above, adding the dissolved soda last. Pour into a well-greased mold, cover tightly and steam for 3 hours. Serve with Brown Sugar Pudding Sauce. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
